Seattle Publishing’s creative solutions have helped many companies in a variety of industries overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.
Parts Company needs micro-sites to sell overstocked items.
Faced with being overstocked and having ample close-out items, Seattle Bike Supply needed a way to channel this specific inventory to their customers.
Take the Seattle Bike Supply's in-house designs and pair them with already completed content listed in SBS's Big Bike Book, then create a microsite to feature these products.
Seattle Publishing established the Gutenberg Publishing System® at SBS in 1998. We created custom data files taken from their notoriously difficult inventory system. Gutenberg streamlined the production of the annual catalog, resulting in their annual Big Bike Book, which now features 425 pages with more than 4,000 products.
For many growing companies, overstock is inevitable as they receive newer products to sell. To combat cluster in their inventory, SBS realized they needed to feature these items in a way that drew attention to them while also succeeding in selling the current stock at SBS.
Working with the graphics department at Seattle Bike Supply, Seattle Publishing took SBS's designs and paired them with the pre-existing content that was already part of the Big Bike Book. Creating the microsites bikethreads.com, bmxstop.com and inlineparts.com, SBS now has more ways to sell their inventory without taking anything away from the their main site.
Using subsets of actively updated contents from their annually published catalog, the data maintenance requirements of these microsites are extremely low. The ecommerce function, integrated with a shopping cart, links buyers directly to PayPal payment processing, while linking with SBS's inventory accounting system ensured up-to-date product availability information, which was crucial for close-out items. These fresh websites feature a different look than Seattle Bike Supply's regular site and contain easily searchable drop down menus to aid customers in finding exactly what they need. As Seattle Bike Supply continues to prosper, Seattle Publishing works with them to come up with innovative ways to help sell merchandise and aid in their success.
